Marvelina Chapter 20 Part 1

Since ancient times the powers that be, dynasties, religions, corporations, have used the human sex drive to control people.

"The quarters are divided by the Aristocratic entryways from each of the middle gates. There are raised bridges for Operators that cross over the enclosed avenues. The bridges get moved at unpredictable times, so that they don't get bored."
"Bored?" inquired Scout, wondering if he had heard right.
"Operators have to have mental challenges in their leisure time for peak productivity. If you further augment the unpredictable repositioning of walkways, and bridges with timed doses of caffeine, fewer errors are committed and the work life extended by a year."

Marvelina Chapter 15 Part 3

Just as it is here on Earth, there are underground wonders on the planet called Grandmother by the people who were living there before the Squares came.

There were steamy hot springs contained by stone baths carved with detailed depictions of beetles, spiders and ants. Water was falling from a floral carved opening high up above and splashing into a clear pool. The giant man lit a torch and placed it in a carved granite stand. Thousands of tiny shiny stones were clinging to the natural walls of the cave and sparkling in the torchlight. Scout looked up at a domed ceiling decorated with mosaic tiles. “It’s a spider,” he said. “It’s a giant spider on her web."

Marvelina Chapter 10 Part 3

Even the wisest people among us are subject to the unexpected power of Love when it hits you out of nowhere…

Shavana tried not to show her dismay that her attraction to Scout was so obvious. “When men and women walk side by side with a common cause, there will be Revolution," she said. "My brother, please take us with you to your camp for the night," she said to Scout. Scout was sure that his life had just changed forever. Far from his usual resistance to any kind of willful directions from anyone, he started walking in the direction they had been headed.
